THE ADHD PODCAST NAVIGATING THIS JOURNEY CALLED LIFE

WITH SIMON SPEAKING

Welcome Aboard

A raw, unfiltered journey about navigating life, after discovering later in the journey that I have ADHD.

This is Simon Speaking, and this show is for anyone navigating the shit show of adult ADHD, the good, the bad and everything in between. I call it finding freedom because once you have clarity, then you're free to make choices knowing who you are. So, if you're searching for clarity and craving something real from those who have already travelled, and are not trying to profit from it, then welcome aboard. Some episodes are reflections from the road, of what I have learnt. Some are deep dives into memories and shortcuts from experience. Others are interviews with people who’ve lived their own version of the bumpy road. It’s about sharing experiences and community insights from those who understand. It’s not polished. It’s not perfect. But it’s honest — and that’s the whole point.”

Your Host

I started The Bumpy Road to Freedom podcast as a passion project — kind of on a whim.

I’d already been diagnosed with ADHD — which was a discovery in itself — but that alone wasn’t the magic answer, or any of the bag of tricks I tried after that. I’ve spent years having an absolute blast with life, and I’ve got more amazing memories than bad ones… but let’s be honest, it was always mixed with that undercurrent of frustration. (You know that feeling.)

Eventually, after one last-ditch effort to “make it work” It fell all apart.

I didn’t bounce back this time. I didn’t push through. I just stopped and went against everything I was taught to believe and just let go, threw in the towel, let go of the rope.

.

Simon Speaking

It’s there, I felt total freedom

I stopped stacking new bricks on top of crumbling old ones. I stopped living based on others’ theories and started creating my own based on how my ADHD brain worked and what it needed.

I became my own guinea pig. A self-experiment. Observing my thoughts, tracking patterns, testing ideas.

One day, I decided to record my thoughts because when you can’t even read your own writing, hey, what’s the point?

I hit record… and I talked. For 12 hours straight. I didn’t notice time passing. I’d found hyperfocus — and I loved it.

I built a little studio in the bus. No tech skills, no clue — just all-day trial and error.

I was planning to roast and sell coffee while travelling in my bus with my Great Dane, Chase. Sell a few bags of coffee here and there while thinking about a new plan for myself, and spend time with my daughter. But I was so fired up about what I was learning, the insights, other people’s experiences, the amazing abilities of the brain and of course all the bullshit that was out there … that The Bumpy Road Podcast was born. I love it, and I found my passion.

I don’t know if anyone will listen. But I do know this: it’s helping me, and if even one person hears something that clicks, something that helps, something that feels familiar when they need it — then that’s enough.

So… welcome to The Bumpy Road to Freedom.
